Prosur to Present Clean-Label Ingredient Systems at FI Asia
Key Takeaways
- PWC survey figures cited by Prosur indicate above-global concern in Asia-Pacific about ultra-processed foods (67%) and additive/preservative levels (62%).
- Regulatory momentum highlighted includes China’s revised contaminant standard for heavy metals in dried meats and Indonesia’s labeling mandates coupled with reformulation to reduce sodium, sugar, and fat.
The food-biotech company points to rising Asia-Pacific concern over ultra-processed foods and tightening regulations in China and Indonesia as it presents its Get It Natural Toolbox.
Food-biotech company Prosur will exhibit at FI Asia, held September 16–18 in Jakarta, where it plans to present its natural ingredient portfolio as a response to what the company describes as changing food regulations and consumer attitudes in the Asia-Pacific region.1
What Consumer and Market Data Is Prosur Citing?
According to the company's press release, survey data from PWC cited by Prosur indicate that 67% of consumers in Asia-Pacific are concerned about ultra-processed foods, and 62% are concerned about additive or preservative levels—both figures reportedly higher than global averages.2 The release also points to a 3% increase in the emergence of food and beverage products carrying clean-label claims across Asia between 2024 and 2025, according to an Innova Market Insights report.3
What Regulatory Changes Does the Announcement Reference?
Prosur's announcement also references recent regulatory developments in the region, including a new Chinese standard on heavy metals in dried meat products set to take effect this month, and new Indonesian rules requiring mandatory package labeling along with reformulation to reduce sodium, sugar, and fat, according to ChemLinked.4,5
What Will Prosur Showcase at FI Asia?
At its booth (#C3T04), Prosur will showcase its Get It Natural Toolbox, a set of ingredient systems the company positions as alternatives to synthetic additives. Per the press release, the toolbox includes four components: a chemical elimination system aimed at removing nitrites, phosphates, and sulphites from processed meats while supporting yield, shelf life, texture, and color; a fermentation-based system made from upcycled ingredients using a water-infusion process without solvents; a sweetener system derived from Mediterranean carob intended to deliver metabolic functionality without artificial sweeteners; and a soluble carob fiber positioned as a lower-cost cocoa alternative with digestive-support properties.
Simon Claessens, Prosur's global director of sales and business development, highlighted the new pressures manufacturers are facing to reformulate. “Across Asia, the rules of food are changing,” he stated. “Consumers are demanding recognizable ingredients and rejecting ultra-processed foods, and regulators are increasing scrutiny. Manufacturers have to adapt to this new reality while still offering products that deliver great taste and flavor, as well as performing at scale. Now is the time to get ahead of the curve and reformulate before regulatory changes force it.”
Prosur will also exhibit separately at China International Meat Industry Week in Qingdao, September 10–14.
How Does This Compare to Prosur's Positioning at IFT First?
The FI Asia appearance follows a similar presentation Prosur made at IFT First in Chicago in July 2026, where the company framed its ingredient systems around the U.S. regulatory environment.
Company representatives at IFT First, including CEO Juan de Dios Hernández and North America vice president Brian Metzger, described the toolbox's ingredient categories in terms consistent with those outlined in the FI Asia release. The company's product formulations have been evaluated through industrial trials and third-party studies.
Prosur, founded in 1965, states that it began work on nitrite and phosphate elimination in meat processing in 2015 and has since extended its ingredient systems to other food and beverage categories. The company's presentations at both IFT First and FI Asia indicate that it is positioning its portfolio against regulatory and labeling trends in more than one geographic market.
