
Josh Long appointed vice president of communications and regulatory affairs with NPA
Supplement industry journalist Josh Long brings two decades of regulatory experience to his new role at the Natural Products Association.
In a June 17, 2025, press release, the Natural Products Association (Washington, D.C.; NPA) announced that Josh Long had joined the organization as vice president of communications and regulatory affairs. In this role, he will lead regulatory engagement, advocation for public policy, and education of members. Long was the associate editorial director of SupplySide Supplement Journal (formerly Natural Products Insider) from Informa Markets. Additionally, he served as a reporter with SupplySide, the host of North America’s largest dietary supplement ingredient trade show, facilitating conversations with brand owners, manufacturers, retailers, and regulators.
His previous experience includes more than 20 years of journalism, with 13 years of coverage for regulatory, legal, and business developments related to dietary supplements and natural products. He also holds a law degree.
“Josh has earned widespread respect across our industry for his thoughtful analysis, sharp reporting and commitment to transparency,” stated Daniel Fabricant, PhD, president and CEO of the NPA, in the press release. “His transition from journalist to advocate is a major asset for NPA and our members as we continue to navigate complex challenges and promote innovation.”
He has covered topics including Food and Drug Administration (FDA) policy, Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA) interpretation, Federal Trade Commission enforcements, food safety, and regulatory trends related to supplements, functional foods, and health products.
