New members, joining at multiple levels, include ingredient suppliers, research firms, and investors.

In a July 24, 2025, press release1, the Global Prebiotic Association (GPA) announced the addition of five new members to the trade association, joining at multiple levels. The focus of the GPA is educating stakeholders about and increasing awareness of prebiotics. Members of the association include manufacturers, brand holders, retailers, and service companies. A prebiotic health effect, according to the GPA, is “a health or performance benefit that arises from alteration of the composition and/or activity of the microbiota, as a direct or indirect result of the utilization of a specific and well-defined product or ingredient by microorganisms.”

"As we approach our 8th anniversary, the category is literally 'roaring' – for foods, beverages, supplements and companion animals,” stated Len Monheit, executive director of the GPA, in the press release. “These new members allow us to continue to represent prebiotic-focused companies globally, but also represent a community, an inter-dependent ecosystem if you will, that will steward the category to new heights over the next several years."

Icon Foods, a global supplier of natural sweeteners and clean label ingredients, is joining the GPA at the board member level. "Joining GPA was an easy decision for us,” explained Kash Rocheleau, CEO of Icon Foods. “As the conversation around gut health and functional ingredients continues to evolve, we believe GPA is at the forefront of driving education, awareness, and integrity in the space. We're excited to collaborate with fellow members and contribute to the advancement of prebiotics in a meaningful, science-backed way."

Four other companies are joining at Associate Member levels: Nutrileads, NutraBerry Incorporated, MUSB Research, and Seventure Partners.

Nutrileads is a health ingredients company with a flagship prebiotic ingredient, Benicaros. NutraBerry focuses on plant-based ingredients, producing upcycled berry seed flours with prebiotic polyphenols and fiber. The research company MUSB Research concentrates on gut microbiome science, formulation development, and microbiota health applications. European investment firm Seventure Partners uses its Health for Life Capita funds for microbiome innovation and technologies supporting microbiome-modulating prebiotics.
