Valensa International (Orlando, FL) will introduced a microencapsulated powder version of its brand name USPlus saw palmetto lipid extract at the upcoming Natural Products Expo West trade show in Anaheim, CA. This new microencapsulated format will expand the ingredient’s applications in everything from bars, shakes, gummies, and more.
“Using a microencapsulation process, Valensa is the first to develop a virtually tasteless powder form, maintaining the necessary high profile of fatty acids to deliver the proven health benefits desired by consumers,” said Valensa’s CEO, Umasudhan C.P., in a press release. “This is the first-ever water-soluble saw palmetto extract in a powder that does not have the typical strong, pungent flavor.”
Saw palmetto is a popular men’s health ingredient, with studies showing it supports testosterone and prostate health, addressing such concerns as benign prostatic hyperplasia, lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), and even, says the company, supporting healthy hair follicles through the inhibition of the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase.
Valensa’s vice president of quality and product development, Stephen Hill, said that an estimated three-quarter teaspoon of the new microencapsulated USPlus saw palmetto extract powder meets the daily recommended dose of saw palmetto extract for promoting prostate health. “This dose in a concentrated, flavor-neutral powder is a tremendous advancement in product innovation and with numerous product applications,” Hill said in the press release.
