The low-dose plant-based ingredients, Sleeproot and Zenroot, are expected to grow the company’s presence in the expanding European nutraceutical market.

In a May 14, 2025, press release, OmniActive Health Technologies announced the launch of two new ingredients, Sleeproot and Zenroot, in certain European markets. The ingredients aim to support sleep, stress, and mood.

Previously, the ingredients had been launched in the US. According to the press release, data from Grandview Research indicates that from 2025 to 2030, the European nutraceuticals market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.9%, driven by consumers’ focus on natural support for stress, sleep, and healthy aging as well as preventative health and overall wellbeing.

“Bringing high-quality, clinically supported ingredients like Sleeproot and Zenroot to Europe is a key priority and further deepens our presence within this market,” stated Kratika Gupta, senior vice president of global marketing at OmniActive, in the press release. “These launches will allow us to meet consumer demand for holistic mental wellness while enabling our business partners to innovate confidently in one of the world’s most forward-looking markets.”

Metatonin-free Sleeproot is standardized to 2% valerenic acid and can be used in tablets, capsules, gummies and RTM powders. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled study1 published in Advances in Complementary & Alternative Medicine in 2024, Sleeproot was demonstrated to improve sleep time after a single 200 mg dose. Other benefits were also seen on day three and throughout the eight-week study period, including improvements in time it took to fall asleep and reduced occasional anxiety. No product-related adverse effects were reported in the study.

Root-only Zenroot is an ashwagandha extract standardized to 1.5% withanolides, using a USP method. The 125 mg daily dose can be used in products including gummies and beverages. According to a clinical study that will be published this year, Zenroot supports reduction of occasional stress and anxiety, plus sleep quality improvements and mood.

OmniActive will showcase its ingredients and botanicals at Booth #4J27 at Vitafoods Europe, taking place May 20 – 22, in Barcelona, Spain.
