Nexira (Rouen, France) has introduced a new branded ingredient, Immunell, designed for the immune-health market. Immunell is derived from Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast containing nucleotides. Nucleotides are naturally occurring molecules that occurring food and breast milk, the company explains, and they support organ growth, the immune system, and intestinal function.
“With a high purity rate-higher than 60% of nucleotides-Immunell is a unique source of the four semi-essential nucleotides (adenine, cytosine, guanine, and uracil) and is formulated with prebiotic acacia fiber,” the company says in a press release.
The firm says that the ingredient supports overall immunity, including the innate and adaptive immune response, by supporting cellular regeneration, reinforcing the gut barrier, and improving the immune system. Specifically, it has been shown to increase immunoglobulin A (IgA) production, to aid in the proliferation and differentiation of T-cells, regulate interleukin-2 (IL-2), and to stimulate macrophage production. Its prebiotic fiber helps with developing helpful bacteria.
