MusclePharm Corp. (Denver) has relaunched its Re-Con workout recovery product with a few new ingredients that the company says are the first to be used in a workout recovery product. The company says it chose to include the two new ingredients, GroPlex and VitaCherry Sport, to promote optimum recovery. The product is intended for use by athletes at any level, says the company, and offers such benefits as quicker muscle repair and recovery and replenishment of vital nutrients post-workout.
GroPlex is a complex of dairy proteins and peptides that is high in protein but low in fat and carbohydrates. It is supplied by Glanbia Nutritionals (Carlsbad, CA). “GroPlex has been shown to cause a release of the anabolic or muscle-building hormone insulin, which can improve the delivery of nutrients to muscle and activates the muscle growth pathway (MTOR) for muscle synthesis,” says a MusclePharm press release. The other ingredient, Futureceuticals’s (Momence, IL) VitaCherry whole tart cherry ingredient, has been shown to help reduce muscle soreness.
In addition to the reformulated Re-Con product, MusclePharm’s Sports Series also includes vitamins, powders, gels, and nutrition bars formulated for the purposes of weight loss, muscle building, fat burning, and energy, among other benefits. Ryan Drexler, CEO, MusclePharm, says the company is now working to review and improve some of its bestselling products, such as Re-Con.
