HTBA, a global manufacturer of citrus flavonoids and active forms of vitamin B12, announced the innovations in taste modulation and functional health it will showcase at SupplySide Global, taking place October 27-30, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada.1 HTBA will be present at booth #7765 at the event. MecobalActive clinical study shows benefits for amateur athletes
Produced using proprietary technology, MecobalActive is intended to support cognitive focus, strength, and endurance in healthy individuals, and its small particle size helps with absorption. Earlier this year, Teresa Pellicer, PhD biotechnology manager at HTBA, presented
In the two-arm, triple blind, randomized placebo-controlled trial, healthy adult male amateur cyclists were given either one tablet of MecobalActive or a placebo for three consecutive days. The participants all had normal levels of B12 before the start of the trial. The supplement group showed at 4.1% increase in maximum physical power and a 6.4% decrease in fatigue. The supplement group also showed a 4.9% decrease in response time in the Lumidic test, compared to the placebo group, which showed an increase in response time.
“This is great news for brands looking develop innovative health and nutrition solutions that cater for both everyday people and amateur or professional athletes who want to scale new heights in active performance,” Pellicer had stated.
Attendees will be able to sample the cinnamon flavored MecobalActive chewing gum at the TastingBar. The chewing gum combines the mental and physical effects of 1000 mg of MecobalActive and a sweet flavor.
Consumer trends and taste modulation
Referencing data from Innova Market Insights, the press release stated that one out of three consumers would choose new ingredients in favor of a more natural product. To support this shift, HTBA will feature its taste modulation platform, OptiTaste. The platform of natural taste modulators optimizes flavor profiles and can mask bitterness or astringency, enhancing the taste and texture of products while balancing cleaner labels. Some of the flavonoid-supported modulators are Upcycled Certified.
“We’re gearing up to explore fresh opportunities with new and existing partners at SupplySide Global this year to meet evolving daily and active lifestyle needs,” stated Mauro Trevisani, HTBA’s general manager for North America and division manager for taste modulation solutions, in a September 30 press release. “As consumers become increasingly discerning, it’s no longer just about responding to trends. Instead, we’re focusing on collaborating with brands to define the next generation of nature-led, science-backed solutions that taste great and help consumers to feel mentally and physically better. Tapping into the potential of citrus flavonoids and green chemistry, our functional health and taste modulation solutions are truly designed to inspire innovation in this arena.”
