BGG World (Irvine, CA), maker of flagship natural astaxanthin ingredient AstaZine, is planning to expand its 100%-glass-tube photobioreactor microalgae farm yet again—the second time in two years. Last year, the company completed its first farm expansion, doubling its production capacity. Groundbreaking for this new, second expansion, located at the same site, took place on May 1, 2022, and is projected to finish within a year.

BGG says this second expansion will again double its astaxanthin production capacity. On the expansion, Shaheen Majeed, CEO of BGG Americas and its firm Algae Health Sciences, said, “The team, led by Peinan Zhang, BGG’s global product manager for astaxanthin, realized that this investment was the only sustainable way forward to answer the increasing demand as consumers increasingly understand the importance of using astaxanthin for improving human health.”
