Sabinsa Files Lawsuits for Infringement of Curcuminoid Patent
Sabinsa Corp. (East Windsor, NJ) has filed lawsuits against four ingredient companies for infringing upon its tetrahydrocurcuminoid patent.

Sabinsa Corp. (East Windsor, NJ) has filed lawsuits against four ingredient companies for infringing upon its tetrahydrocurcuminoid patent. The lawsuits allege the four companies made, sold, and/or imported products that infringe on Sabinsa’s U.S. patent (no. 6,6653,327), which covers its composition and methods of use for tetrahydrocurcuminoids in the United States.
The four companies named in the lawsuits are Olive Lifesciences Pvt. Ltd. (Bangalore, India), Nachurel Ingredients LLC (North Brunswick, NJ), Chemill Inc. (Bothell, WA), and Aegle Bios Inc. (Edison, NJ). Nachurel Ingredients and Olive Lifesciences have been named in previous lawsuits for infringing upon a separate Sabinsa patent.
“We are determined to protect our intellectual property when our patents are infringed upon,” said Muhammed Majeed, PhD, found of Sabinsa, in an announcement of the legal action. “These defendants’ customers are also infringing upon Sabinsa’s patents, most likely without their knowledge, so these infringing companies are putting their customer’s businesses at risk.”
The patent mentioned in the suits covers Sabinsa’s compositional claims as well as multiple topical and oral applications of tetrahydrocurcuminoids.
“We have been very outspoken in calling on industry manufacturers to respect intellectual property: to do otherwise both stifles innovation and does a disservice to those manufacturers who legitimately license intellectual property,” said Majeed.
None of the four companies named in the lawsuits responded to requests for comment.
