BGG World (Irvine, CA) was awarded by the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) for its contributions to a USP monograph for elderberry extracts. BGG’s work is included in the “European Elder Berry Dry Extract” monograph. USP awarded the company with both a Certificate of Appreciation and a Donor Recognition Program award for helping establish elderberry extract standards included in the monograph.

BGG has collaborated with USP on other ingredient work as well, especially in the berry and extract categories. “We were honored to participate and contribute to the development of this monograph, especially having our test methods validated and adopted,” said Yanmei Li, PhD, global chief scientific officer at BGG. “The monograph sets up the pharmacopeial standard of elderberry extract and will benefit all stakeholders of the elderberry industry to fight against adulteration and assure protection of public health.”
