Sirio Pharma (California) is introducing new softgel technology at the SupplySide West trade show in Las Vegas this week (Booth 5036). The new, plant-based enteric softgel technology is called EnteriClear, and it is designed to protect active ingredients that are sensitive to stomach acid from degrading in the stomach too soon after ingestion, without requiring the use of coating technology. “The new technology provides nutraceutical customers with a softgel that combines the benefits of plant-based ingredients, a stable shell free from cold-chain requirements, and an appealing clear appearance," said the company in a press release.

“The new enteric softgel technology will add a further plant-based option to the company’s growing range, complementing its Plantegrity softgel technology introduced earlier this year," the company added. "Both products feature a shell developed using a newly patented gellan gum technology derived from sustainable sources and are part of the company’s wider commitment to product ‘softgels with a purpose’ for a more sustainable future."

It said: “EnteriClear protects acid-sensitive active ingredients from degradation in the stomach and prevents stomach irritation and unpleasant belching caused by certain ingredients. It is particularly well suited for products containing omega-3 oils—fish and krill—as well as botanical oils including garlic, peppermint, tea tree, and oregano.”
