Roquette introduces gluten-free mannitol excipient for tableting

The company says that the new Pearlitol SW-F offers similar properties for direct-compression tableting as the company’s other Pearlitol SD mannitol grades.

Roquette (Le Madeleine, France) has introduced a new wheat-free mannitol excipient for direct compression that allows for gluten-free claims. The company says that the new Pearlitol SW-F offers similar properties for direct-compression tableting as the company’s other Pearlitol SD mannitol grades.

Pearlitol SW-F is also sugar free and non-GMO. In a press release, the company points out the benefits of its SD mannitol grades in general. “With excellent powder flow and compressibility performance, there are a number of reasons to choose Pearlitol SD grades, including for their inherent non-hygroscopic property that enhances active stability and pleasing cool taste appreciated by consumers.” The company calls it a multifunctional excipient for chewable and oral disintegrating tablets.
