OmniActive Health Technologies (Morristown, NJ) highlighted its expanded energy ingredients portfolio at October’s SupplySide West show, including an ingredient from Alpinia galangal, which is part of the ginger plant family, and a green coffee bean–based formula.
EnXtra is an Alpinia galangal ingredient that OmniActive is now offering thanks to a new global strategic partnership with India-based ingredients firm Enovate Biolife. EnXtra is Enovate’s flagship, clinically tested ingredient that has been shown to improve alertness and focus for up to five hours, without the jitters associated with caffeine. When taken in combination with caffeine, it can also blunt the “crash” typically associated with caffeine, and is being marketed as “the Caffeine Amplifier” by the companies.
OmniActive is now handling sales, marketing, and customer service for EnXtra in the U.S. The companies are also partnering on the supply chain and quality control of the ingredient, as well as developing diverse delivery formats for the mental focus and energy markets.
EnXtra is GRAS affirmed and supported by three published human clinical studies and a molecular docking study. At SupplySide West, Arti Shah, vice president of global marketing for OmniActive, said, “Alpinia galangal is really one of those rare nootropics that is coming to market supported by science.
OmniActive also highlighted its proprietary, patent-pending Xtenergy ingredient formula derived from green coffee beans, which is designed to deliver sustained energy without causing crash or jitters. It “provides a sustained and uniform release of actives” and is produced using a water extraction process, the company says.
“Consumers today are really trying to overcome both the physical as well as the mental fatigue they have, and they’re looking for energy products to really help them achieve all-day attention, focus, and energy and optimize their productivity, without feeling the jitters and crash of the very stimulating products that are out there,” said Shah. “This is really helping fill that space and is backed by science.”
