NextFerm Technologies (Yokneam Illit, Israel) announced self-GRAS (generally recognized as safe) affirmation for its Astaferm fermented astaxanthin antioxidant in the form of oil for soft-gels. Already available in Canada and United States in gummies and powders, the company is preparing to expand the marketing of Astaferm for additional indications such as immune system support, as well as expanding into additional serving forms, such as water-dispersible powder for food and beverages.
“Soft-gels is the most popular form of consumption of astaxanthin,” Boaz Noy, CEO f NextFerm, said in a press release. “This marketing approval allows NextFerm to expand its value proposition in the market, while increasing market awareness and offer fermented astaxanthin in the form of oil with a competitive price, in addition to astaxanthin in gummies. We believe it will contribute to revenues growth in the coming quarters.”

FDA and FTC issue more warning letters to copycat delta-8 THC food products
July 16th 2024The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Federal Trade Commission have jointly issued warning letters to five companies for selling copycat food products containing delta-8 THC in violation of the Federal Food Drug and Cosmetic Act.
