Kaneka's new Ubiquinol Verified Program partners with Eurofins to ensure supplement potency and quality, protecting consumers and building trust.

Kaneka North America LLC Nutrients Division (Kaneka Nutrients) recently announced the start of their new Ubiquinol Verified Program.1 The initiative aims to protect ubiquinol-containing supplements’ transparency and quality. Ubiquinol is the “reduced, antioxidant form of CoQ10 that is immediately usable by the body and plays a vital role in cellular energy production. After the age of 40, the body's ability to convert oxidized CoQ10 into Ubiquinol declines, making direct supplementation increasingly important.”1 Kaneka Nutrients has production facilities in both Texas in the US and Takasago, Japan and has been a part of CoQ10 research, as well as manufacturing for more than 40 years. Additionally, the Kaneka Quality Seal has a Kaizen-based quality management system and is in compliance with the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Good Manufacturing Practices.

Kaneka Nutrients’ new program was created to assist consumer protection and quality improvement for the industry. The press release mentioned, “While many companies are already making significant efforts to ensure high-quality products, we believe that independent third-party verification can further empower consumers to make informed choices with confidence.”1

Another announcement mentioned in the company’s press release was that Kaneka Nutrients announced their partnership with Eurofins QKEN K.K. (Japan), a third-party laboratory, which will help create an independent and robust verification system.1 Eurofins has experience within consumer product, pharmaceutical, food, and environmental industries. The testing laboratory has “validated analytical methods and publishes independent lab test results confirming the actual Ubiquinol content in products claiming to use Kaneka Ubiquinol.”1

The Importance of Testing

With the Ubiquinol Verified Program, the ubiquinol amount in products will be able to be tested to ensure it matches the amount that is listed on the label of the product.

According to the press release, testing includes1:

  • Potency Verification – Does the product contain the stated amount of ubiquinol?
  • Identity Confirmation – Is the compound truly ubiquinol?

Consumers will be able to access more detailed test results on Eurofins QKEN’s website through a sticker with a unique ID number which will be placed on products that go through and pass testing. With the Ubiquinol Verified Program, transparency will be supported and help build trust with consumers interested in purchasing Kaneka Ubiquinol products.1

Kaneka Nutrients Europe study results unveil interest in more education about Ubiquinol

In an August 19, 2025, press release, Kaneka Nutrients Europe announced results from a United Kingdom (UK) survey regarding consumer awareness of Ubiquinol.2 The nutrient, the bioactive form of CoenzymeQ10, plays an important role in reproductive health, it explained, and the results from the survey could create an opportunity for consumer education. The survey collected responses from more than 1000 men and women, ages 18-60, and was conducted with the collaboration of public health nutritionist Dr. Emma Derbyshire, who presented findings at the 2025 The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists World Congress2.

“While the science behind Ubiquinol in fertility is robust and expanding, what really resonates with me is seeing how eager people are to learn about it,” stated Dr. Derbyshire, in the press release2. “Fertility struggles are deeply personal and can often feel overwhelming and isolating. Giving people evidence-based nutritional insights and guidance can help to empower them on their journey. Every person deserves to understand how nutrition might support their path to parenthood.”

Highlighted results from the survey include2:

  • 64% were not aware of the role of Ubiquinol in reproductive health
  • 51% of respondents stated an interest in learning about Ubiquinol in the future
  • 44% stated they would discuss with their General Practitioner to learn more about Ubiquinol, and 37% indicated that they would look online for more information

“These final findings present a roadmap for supplement brands developing consumer education strategies,” stated Filip Van hulle, general manager of Kaneka Nutrients Europe, in the press release.2 “Informative, engaging, and empathetic online content will play a major role, as will partnerships and collaborations with healthcare providers. In such a personal and private health area, real human connections paired with strong scientific backing are needed to win the day.”
