The 80-mesh particle size enables the cranberry powder to be used in gummies, softgels, and other delivery forms.
Fruit d’Or (Villeroy, QC, Canada), a supplier of certified-organic cranberry ingredients, is rolling out a new, smaller-mesh-size option for its Cran Naturelle 100% organic cranberry powder at the Vitafoods Europe trade show taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, on May 9-12 (Booth M53). The 80-mesh particle size enables the cranberry powder to be used in gummies, softgels, and other delivery forms.
“For the first time, Fruit d’Or’s 80-mesh particle size enables its 100% cranberry powder to be used in gummies, softgels (without leakage), melt-aways, strips, and other delivery systems, at effective dosages,” the firm’s press release states. “This could be a huge advantage for products formulated to reduce the risk of urinary tract infections.”
Sylvain Dufour, vice president, business development, added, “We are seeing a push toward more novel delivery systems such as cranberry gummies and softgels as brands switch away from cranberry juice powder to further differentiate themselves from their competition.”
The company’s 100% organic Cran Naturelle cranberry powder alleviates formulators of the need to use excipients in capsules, such as Mg(OH)2 or maltodextrin, as well. “This is important for clean labels and because fillers or lubricating agents may interfere with testing for PACs in your final product,” Dufour added. Cran Naturelle Organic contains a guaranteed 7.2% of soluble and insoluble PACs, the firm says.
