Arla Foods Ingredients (Viby J, Denmark) announced that its MicelPure native milk protein has become the first of its ingredients to be certified as non-GMO by the Non-GMO Project.
“MicelPure is a micellar casein isolate,” the company’s press release states. “Containing 86% native protein and naturally high in calcium, it is ideal for sports nutrition and other healthy food applications.”
The ingredient, which has been certified organic in the EU and China, is made from Danish milk using gentle membrane filtration technology that the company says protects the protein from denaturation, thereby preserving its nutritional benefits.
According to the press release, after the USDA Organic seal, the Non-GMO Project Verified seal is the most widely recognized food certification logo. Arla calls it "the fastest-growing label in the natural products industry, representing around $40 billion in annual sales and over 66,000 unique formula products. Research shows that brands bearing [the Non-GMO Project Verified] butterfly logo experience a sales uplift of up to 20%.”
