Dietary supplements manufacturer Now Foods (Bloomingdale, IL) says is it is one of the first companies to now be certified for its dietary supplement manufacturing process by Underwriters Laboratories (UL; Northbrook, IL). The company is now certified by UL’s National Brand Certification Program (NBCP).
UL describes NBCP as “an annual Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) assessment intended to evaluate a facility used in your supply chain against current GMPs, as defined by the FDA’s Code of Federal Regulations and current industry standard for the type of product you produce, purchase, or introduce into the National Brand Market.”
Last year, UL was named an official auditor of the Natural Products Association’s (NPA; Washington, DC) GMP certification program. Now Foods says it was one of the first to be certified when NPA introduced GMP certification in 2000.
The NBCP certification adds to Now Foods’ list of certifications. The company’s Bloomingdale, IL, and Sparks, NV, facilities were audited and certified by UL.
Now Health Group’s CEO Jim Emme called the UL seal “well recognized by consumers.”
