Synbio Tech Inc. (Kaohsiung City, Taiwan) has broken ground on construction of a new plant in Kaohsiung Science Park, Taiwan. The plant will produce probiotics and postbiotics for human heath, animal health, and agriculture. The new plant, an approximately $67 million investment, marks the next stage of Synbio Tech’s business activity in the international market, which was spurred on by the success of its probiotic strain Lactobacillus plantarum TWK10, which was licensed by Lonza Group in North America for the sports nutrition market.
“The new plant will integrate the green construction concept and efficient production lines to improve the quality and efficiency. In addition, with the plan of applying the ‘Green Building Label’ certification, the new plant will be the backbone for our global business expansion,” said Mr. Yang, CEO of Synbio Tech Inc., in a press release.
“With the increasing awareness of the vital role of gut microbes, we are optimistic about the application and demand of lactic acid bacteria in various business areas. The production line of our new factory will be focused on three major directions: raw bacteria powder for health care, lactic acid bacteria for agriculture and animal husbandry, and postbiotic solutions. Furthermore, in addition to the upgrade of hardware and equipment, the new plant will set up a new strain R&D center to enhance the R&D capacity of lactic acid bacteria and intestinal microbes” added Sean Yang, the General Manager of Synbio Tech Inc.
