Roquette (La Madeleine, France) has added three excipients to its line especially for moisture-sensitive nutraceutical and pharmaceutical ingredients. The company introduced the new additions— Lycatab CT-LM, Microcel 103 SD, and Microcel 113 SD—at October’s CPHI Barcelona trade show.

Lycatab CT-LM is part of Roquette’s pre-gelatinized starch range and acts as a multifunctional filler, binder, and disintegrant. Importantly, the company says, it offers extremely low water activity (Aw) of not more than 0.1%. The excipient is suited for dry granulation, hard capsule filling, and direct compression.

Microcel 103 SD and Microcel 113 SD are part of Roquette’s microcrystalline cellulose line, stemming from the company’s acquisition of Crest Cellulose in 2022. Microcel 103 SD offers consistent granulometric distribution and touts an Aw of not more than 0.2%. Meanwhile, Microcel 113 SD has an Aw of not more than 0.1%. Both are free of lactose, gluten, and sugar and “take hard tablet production up a gear, marrying reliability with superior stability to unlock tablets that stay effect throughout their shelf life, batch after batch," the firm says.
