Scheduled events include sustainability lectures, self-regulation workshops, and an underwater tour with a marine biologist.
Fish oil manufacturers, and all others interested in the omega-3 category, can now register for next year’s GOED Exchange, hosted by the Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3 (GOED). The event is scheduled to take place on February 4–6 in GOED’s hometown of Salt Lake City.
GOED’s mission is to promote the omega-3 ingredients category through public education and government interaction. Its annual conference will showcase much of GOED’s own work and recent findings, but the GOED Exchange is also an important platform for discussions with business, government, and non-profit experts on the state of the omega-3 industry and the ecosystems it affects.
Featured events for GOED Exchange 2014 include an underwater tour with marine biologist David Guggenheim; an education sessions on self-regulation for omega-3 businesses; and a sustainability lecture featuring Andy Sharpless, CEO of Oceana, the world’s largest non-profit devoted solely to ocean conservation. Workshops on obtaining eco certifications and understanding the latest stability testing methods should also prove useful to many attendees.
Check out the full schedule for GOED Exchange at the link above. Discounts are available for GOED members.

Meta-analysis does not find increased risk of bleeding events from omega-3 PUFA consumption
July 8th 2024Researchers reviewed 11 studies and found that there was no difference in the incidence of bleeding events between patients receiving omega-3 PUFAs and those not receiving them. High dose EPA consumption was associated with an elevated but modest risk.
Recent review states that pentadecanoic acid may support cellular stability for better longevity
June 25th 2024According to the paper’s author, Stephanie Venn-Watson, DVM, MPH, deficiency in pentadecanoic acid of ≤0.2% total circulating fatty acids increases the risk of ferroptosis, which a type of cell death cause by the peroxidation of fragile fatty acids in cell membranes that combines with iron thus increasing reactive oxygen species, and disabling mitochondria.
