Now Foods, a leading U.S. manufacturer of natural products, has opened a new, 200,000-sq-ft distribution facility in Roselle, IL. This is the company’s third U.S.-based operations facility, joining sites in Bloomingdale, IL, and Sparks, NV. According to the firm, the new site “will support increased volume and efficiency needed for the company’s long-term growth and expansion.”

The new facility, which will employ 130 people and handle order fulfillment and distribution services, includes such upgrades as:

  • Pick-to-Voice System that the company says allows for improved lot validation and cartonization
  • A three-story-high, high-velocity picking module designed to drive higher order output and that is scalable for future growth. The company’s previous picking area was only two stories high and 50,000 sq ft.
  • A special dock area reserved for large-quantity truck orders in order to improve efficiency and turnaround times
  • A new, state-of-the-art LED lighting system that works through motion detection in order to save energy
  • A refrigerator that can store up to 800 pallets of refrigerated materials
  • A freezer that can store up to 200 pallets of materials
  • Special pack-out areas designed to significantly increase packing efficiencies

“We are constantly working to serve our retailer customers better while accommodating sustained growth, and this facility does both,” said NOW Foods CEO Jim Emme in a press release. “We’ve incorporated advanced technology with environmental efficiencies and emphasis on worker safety and well-being.”
