New Lion’s Mane Extract for Cognitive Health

Amycenone is a standardized extract of two constituents from Lion’s Mane mushroom (Hericium erinaceus), hericenones and amyloban.

Mushroom Wisdom Inc. (East Rutherford, NJ), formerly Maitake Products Inc., has added to its mushroom raw-ingredient portfolio. Amycenone is a standardized extract of two constituents from Lion’s Mane mushroom (Hericium erinaceus), hericenones and amyloban.

The company says that recent science has demonstrated the cognitive-protective properties of Lion’s Mane mushroom. Developing research is also exploring Lion’s Mane’s antiaging and antioxidant effects, it says.

In particular, the company says that hericenones and amyloban have been shown to stimulate synthesis of Nerve Growth Factor, helping to regenerate brain cells, protecting brain cell death from amyloid beta-peptide cytotoxicity, and improving memory function and mental clarity.
