Multinational ingredients supplier LycoRed Ltd. (Beersheba, Israel) has become the newest player in vegetarian omega-3’s with the release of Lyco-O-Mega 10 AL.
Lyco-O-Mega 10 AL is docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) based from algal oil. While DHA can be suitable for a variety of applications, this branded ingredient is specifically designed for the bakery and confectionery markets. The company has conducted trials with the ingredient on chocolates, crackers, and breads. One example is a chocolate tablet that was suitable for 5 mg of DHA.
“This vegetarian form of Omega-3, unlike fish oil, has the advantage of being both sustainable and suitable for vegetarians and also for children who are more sensitive to taste,” said the company in a recent press release.
LycoRed Ltd. has regional facilities in the United States, Europe, and Israel. For more information, click here.
