How the Ingredient Lutemax 2020 Supports Eye Health

Erin McEvoy: Hello, everyone. I'm here with Melissa Maglaqui with OmniActive here to talk about Lutemax 2020. So Sirio and OmniActive are showcasing a new soft chew that supports eye health at Expo West, and the new soft chew utilizes OmniActive’s Lutemax 2020 extract. Could you tell us more about how this formulation with multiple macular carotenoids is different than lutein-only formulations for eye health?

Melissa Maglaqui: So with Lutemax 2020 you're not getting just lutein, you're getting lutein, RR-zeaxanthin, and RS-zeaxanthin. Now, why is that important? That's how it comes in nature, right? So we extract this straight from a marigold. This is exactly how it comes in nature. This is how you would find it in foods that you would be eating. But it's also the three macular carotenoids that are deposited on the back of the eye. So you wouldn't have to supplement and add anything additional. You would be getting everything exactly as nature intended.

McEvoy: Can you share more about the results from clinical studies supporting the effects of Lutemax 2020 as an ingredient?

Maglaqui: So Lutemax 2020, being our flagship ingredient, is very well studied. We have clinical endpoints that help support, of course, eye and blue light support for – let me think of how to say that better. So Lutemax Max 2020 helps deliver protection against blue light, oxidative stress. It also has clinical endpoints for stress, mood stabilization, and skin elasticity. Lutein is just one of those things that can do so many different wonderful benefits.

McEvoy: All right, was there anything else you wanted to share about Lutemax, or are there other effects that it might have?

Maglaqui: Cognition, it supports cognition. There's we've got endpoints for memory, focus, response, rate, things like that.
