The Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3s (GOED; Salt Lake City), and the Sociedad Nacional de Pesquería (SNP; Lima, Peru) have signed a joint partnership agreement. Under the agreement, 11 key Peruvian fishing companies, all of which are SNP members, will become members of GOED. The partnership acknowledges the key role the Peruvian anchovy fishery plays in the omega-3 industry. Peru is the largest fishery supplying omega-3 fish oil to global dietary supplement brands, say GOED.

“Having the backing of Peruvian fishing companies is very important to GOED. Both GOED and SNP are focused on supporting the Peruvian anchovy business and we believe our common commitment, which brought this partnership to life, will help grow the category overall,” says Ellen Schutt, executive director of GOED, in a press release.

“Peru is poised to become a leader in the production of omega 3 in the world, thanks to the diversity of hydrobiological products offered by its sea,” said Cayetana Aljovin, president of SNP, in a press release. “The alliance with GOED will allow us to achieve that goal. We are committed to the well-being of Peru and the world.”
