Glanbia Nutritionals (Chicago) is launching its patent-pending Simpleat line of plant-based meat ingredients designed for food manufacturers, quick-service restaurants, and food service distributors. The ingredients are clean label and sustainable, with “exceptional” texture and neutral taste.
Made from U.S.-grown and processed yellow peas, Simpleat ingredients are non-GMO and allergen free. They do not require the use of methylcellulose, carrageenan, or xanthan gum.
The line includes three ingredients: 1) Simpleat Crumble, which is fully cooked, available frozen or refrigerated, and offers a texture comparable to ground meat for products like meatballs and beef or sausage patty analogues, 2) Simpleat EZStrips, which are fully cooked, shelf-stable, and come in bite sizes and can be used in ready-to-prepare finished goods for food manufacturing and food service, and 3) Simpleat Tender, which is a versatile, easy-to-use powder that can be used in plant-based meat products for tacos, sauces, pasta dishes, pizza toppings, and more.
“Simpleat plant-based meat solutions are simple, scalable solutions using pea protein that will not only benefit manufacturers but are uniquely positioned to address the needs of the convenience and food service categories,” said Jaclyn Shingara, the company’s director of product strategic management, in a press release. “It provides our customers versatile solutions that can withstand high temperature hold times, produced using a kill-step to assure safety, and have no industry capacity limitations.”
