The Japanese patent office has granted Fluxome (Easton, PA) a patent for the company’s production technology for polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAS). The company says the patent covers “an exclusive production fermentation method using safe baker’s yeast and sugar to produce high-quality natural ingredients from eco-friendly sources.”
The patent adds to the company’s more than 50 patents. In addition to PUFAs, Fluxome also supplies resveratrol and beta-glucan ingredients.
“As Fluxome continues to expand, recently with Fluxome resveratrol’s entry into the European market, the patent granted in Japan for Fluxome PUFA unveils promising opportunities in Asia,” said company president and CEO Angela Tsetsis, via press release. She called Asia a key target market for the company.
