The 12-week study showed improvements in winkle depth, skin gloss, and skin tone, compared with placebo.

A new clinical trial demonstrated the benefits of the botanical blend Eternalyoung for various markers of facial skin health, including wrinkles and skin tone.1 The nutricosmetic by Monteloeder, a subsidiary of SuanNutra, combines pomegranate (Punica granatum), sweet orange (Citrus sinensis), desert ginseng (f. Cistanche), and gotu kola (Centella asiatica), a November press release explains.2 The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, “Efficacy of a botanical-based Nutricosmetic ingredient on skin aging-related markers in adult women,” was published in the Journal of Dermatology & Cosmetology in October 2025.

Study design: measuring signs of skin aging

Conducted at Centro Médico Complutense in Spain, the 12-week study involved 71 women, ages 30–66 with visible signs of skin aging. The participants received capsules of either 225 mg of Eternalyoung or a placebo daily. Measurements were taken at baseline, 2, 4, 8, and 12 weeks and included forehead wrinkle volume and count, gloss, moisturization, melanin index, and transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

This study builds on an earlier study on this ingredient, which demonstrated improvements in wrinkle depth, elasticity, firmness, skin thickness, skin moisturization, TEWL, and dark spots pigmentation starting at four weeks.3,4 The new clinical trial includes a more diverse population with additional skin phototypes, three-dimensional wrinkle analysis, and analysis of additional facial regions.

Results: multiple measurable benefits

Improvements were seen in the Eternalyoung group in several measurements compared with placebo.

  • At week 12, wrinkle count was reduced by −24% in the test group, and forehead wrinkle volume reached −23.3%, compared to +13.6% in the placebo group
  • From week 4 to week 12, a progressive increase in forehead wrinkle gloss was seen in the test group, with no changes seen in the placebo group
  • Individuals in the test group who had a more affected baseline showed greater increase in gloss at week 12 than placebo
  • Melanin decreased in the test group 13.9% at week 12, compared to −7.3% in the placebo group
  • Hydration and TEWL did not show significant differences between groups, however, those who had impaired baseline TEWL and hydration values showed significant improvements

“This study indicates that daily supplementation with Eternalyoung is associated with notable and clinically observed improvements in the key aspects of skin aging,” explains Nuria Caturla, PhD, chief R&D officer for Monteloeder, in the press release. “We witnessed its ability to help improve the appearance of smoother skin, more even tone, enhanced radiance and moisturization, especially in subgroups with a compromised skin barrier. These findings further support the antiaging efficacy of the formulation building on existing evidence.”

Eternalyoung was well tolerated and no adverse events occurred in the study, the researchers noted.

Supporting beauty from within

The results provide evidence for Eternalyoung as a multi-target, polyphenol-based nutraceutical for youthful, radiant, and even-toned skin, the researchers conclude, adding that the research supports the efficacy of oral supplements that contain antioxidants, polyphenols, flavonoids, terpenoids, and carotenoids.

“Eternalyoung® supports skin vitality by acting on cellular mechanisms associated with visible ageing,” notes Caturla. “This composition brings together four botanicals that work in unison to provide multipath way holistic skin benefits. It exerts a positive impact on such factors as oxidative stress, skin hydration, elasticity, collagen preservation, and telomere protection. These effects may contribute to a smoother, brighter, and more even-toned appearance. It also restores skin barrier balance and moisture in dry or stressed skin.”

Two gummies are able to deliver the 225mg dose of Eternalyoung, the press release notes.

“Eternalyoung was purposefully developed to offer a science-backed natural route to skin health,” states Mariana Ortega-Rufino, MS, science marketing manager of SuanNutra. “It is a versatile formula designed to support multiple aspects of skin health. Young consumers looking to maintain their youthful appearance, or mature consumers searching for a solution to aging skin can benefit from incorporating Eternalyoung into their skincare routine.”
