To help beverage manufacturers enhance the sweetness of their reduced-sugar drinks, flavors supplier Flavorchem (Downers Grove, CA) has introduced Taste Mod Sweet, which it describes as “a natural flavor that is formulated to enhance sweetness in beverage applications without sacrificing on taste or nutrition.”
The company says Taste Mod Sweet works in a variety of beverage applications and at a range of pH levels. It is also vegan, kosher, and non-GMO and can be labeled as a “natural flavor.”
In a press release, Flavorchem said, “The sweetness modulator allows for a 30% reduction in sugar to enable a ‘reduced sugar’ claim and is approximately 40 times sweeter than sucrose.”
The beverage market is ripe for ingredients that can take reduced-sugar drinks to new heights. As Flavorchem’s press release points out, approximately 18% of global nonalcoholic beverage launches since 2020 have featured sugar-related claims.
