Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ), the regulatory body for foods in Australia and New Zealand, has authorized seven more food-health claims for Bimuno GOS, a branded prebiotic galactooligosaccharide (GOS) ingredient. The ingredient, owned by Clasado Biosciences (Reading, UK), can now feature these claims on food products in Australia and New Zealand. The claims relate to benefits for digestive and immune health, including for elite athletes.
The seven new health claims are:
“The addition of seven new food-health relationship claims with FSANZ represents a significant step forward in our mission to offer the very best in gut health innovation, and a fantastic achievement for our team,” said Lucie Nagy, general counsel, Clasado Biosciences, in a press release. Bimuno GOS is now allowed to use a total of 29 different health claims in Australia and New Zealand. The ingredient’s exclusive distributor in Australia and New Zealand is Pathway International.
