Bankrupt Nutrition 21 Acquired by Investment Group

Nutrition ingredient developer Nutrition 21 (Purchase, NY), which in August declared bankruptcy, has been acquired by an investment group led by Phillip and Michael Satow. According to the companies’ press release, both Satows have almost 50 years of experience combined in the healthcare industry and most recently founded specialty pharmaceutical company JDS Pharmaceuticals LLC.

Under the acquisition, Michael Satow will serve as president and CEO of Nutrition 21, while Phillip will be chairman of the board. Nutrition 21’s portfolio includes the Chromax brand chromium picolinate. The company will continue to operate under the Nutrition 21 name.
