Allmicroalgae’s Chlorella Gets EU Organic Certification Ahead of Vitafoods Europe
Allmicroalgae Natural Products S.A. says that the European Union organic certification makes the company one of “very few” European manufacturers of organic chlorella microalgae.

A Chlorella vulgaris microalgae ingredient from microalgae supplier Allmicroalgae Natural Products S.A. (Lisbon, Portugal) has been certified organic by the European Union. Allmicroalgae says that the EU organic certification makes the company one of “very few” European manufacturers of organic chlorella microalgae.
Sofia Hoffmann de Mendonça, business development manager, Allmicroalgae, explained in a press release that this certification helps the company meet the growing demand for organic products in the European market. “Gaining EU organic certification is another step in our commitment to provide appealing solutions for the most demanding consumers,” she said. “We’re actively developing application concepts where chlorella can provide valuable consumer benefits, such as vegan health foods and snack concepts.”
Allmicroalgae’s chlorella is cultivated in a fully controlled, enclosed system, and each batch is verified by third-party laboratories, the company says. Now, the new organic certification “further validates the quality of this new…chlorella version, to show our commitment to premium quality and safety, and adaptability to the market demands,” said Mendonça.
The company also recently introduced fermentation technology to its Chlorella vulgaris production process, where it is now used alongside the company’s existing photobioreactor technology. The company says that the fermentation process both increases volume capacity and cultivation speed, and will be “crucial to the production of omega-3 DHA/EPA strains…of which testing and production are also in their pipeline.”
Allmicroalgae will be showcasing its organic-certified Chlorella vulgaris at Vitafoods Europe 2018, which will take place from May 15-17 in Geneva, Switzerland.
