Aker BioMarine Announces Inaugural Scientific Advisory Board

The board will provide guidance for future scientific trials and regulatory plans.

Krill supplier Aker BioMarine (Oslo, Norway), which producers Superba and Qrill brand krill ingredients, has announced its first scientific advisory board, with members spanning a variety of scientific fields and global regions.

“The Aker Science Board will provide strategic guidance for our ongoing research and development program including in vitro, preclinical and clinical studies,” said Hogne Vik, MD, PhD, chairman of the scientific advisory board. “Further, these experts will contribute to our strategic regulatory plans in Europe, North America, and Asia.”

The Aker BioMarine Science Board includes the following founding members:

  • Philip Calder, president of the International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids (ISSFAL).

  • Sebastiano Banni, member of the ISSFAL board of directors and associate professor of physiology at the Faculty of Sciences for the University of Cagliari (Italy).

  • Vincenzo Di Marzo, research director at the Institute of Biomolecular Chemistry of the National Research Council in Pozzuoli (Naples, Italy).

  • Tomohito Hamazaki, past president and chair of the board of Japan Society for Lipid Nutrition.

  • William Harris, PhD, founder of omega-3 blood testing laboratory OmegaQuant LLC and a chief investigator on five omega-3 related NIH grants.

  • Willem van Nieuwenhuyzen, MS, founder of Lecipro Consulting and executive director of International Lecithin and Phospholipid Society (ILPS).
