The line includes a Focus Gummy built around lion's mane extract, Brahmi, and gotu kola; an eye health gummy delivering lutein and zeaxanthin; a saffron gummy for mood support; a high-dose creatine gummy; and a functional mushroom blend, all formulated without added sugar using the company's plant-based prebiotic fiber system.
For manufacturers tracking where healthy aging demand is heading, the launch reflects a broader shift already underway in the category. According Innova Market Insights’ "Top Health & Nutrition Trends for 2026" report,2 73% of consumers worldwide now rate healthy aging as extremely or very important, and roughly half report significant concern about mental health, stress, and sleep.2
What Evidence Supports the Lutein and Zeaxanthin Dosing in the Eye Health Gummy?
The eye health gummy contains 10 mg of lutein and 2 mg of zeaxanthin, doses that mirror those used in the Age-Related Eye Disease Study 2 (AREDS2), a National Eye Institute-funded randomized clinical trial of 4,203 participants.3
That trial found that adding lutein and zeaxanthin to the original AREDS antioxidant formulation did not produce a statistically significant reduction in progression to advanced age-related macular degeneration compared with the original formula overall.
Secondary analysis did find that participants with the lowest dietary intake of these carotenoids saw a meaningful risk reduction, and lutein and zeaxanthin performed as well as beta-carotene without beta-carotene's associated lung cancer risk in smokers.²
That trial population, however, was older adults already at risk for macular degeneration, not general consumers seeking protection from blue light exposure, a claim the company's announcement makes without a cited source.
How Strong Is the Research Behind Lion's Mane for Cognitive Support?
The Focus Gummy's headline ingredient, lion's mane extract, has clinical support from a small body of research, most notably a 2009 double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in Japanese adults aged 50 to 80 with diagnosed mild cognitive impairment.4 That study found improved cognitive scores after 16 weeks of supplementation, but participants received roughly 3 g of dried mushroom powder daily, split across multiple doses, compared with the 100 mg included in TopGum's gummy.
More recent pilot studies in healthy younger adults have shown mixed results, with some finding narrow, task-specific benefits and others finding no significant effect on composite measures of cognition or mood.
What Should Manufacturers Take From the Rest of the Formulation Strategy?
The remaining gummies, a saffron formulation for mood, a 1.5 g creatine monohydrate gummy, and a 10-strain mushroom blend, rely on ingredients with varying degrees of independent clinical support, none of which was detailed in the company's announcement beyond ingredient names and doses.
Jennifer Toomey, head of new product development at TopGum, characterized the company's core capability as translating complex formulations into consumer-friendly formats. "Complex botanical blends are traditionally difficult to integrate into consumer-friendly formats like gummies," she said. "This is precisely TopGum's specialty."
What Are the Limitations of the Evidence Behind This Launch?
The announcement does not cite independent testing of the finished gummy formulations, and several of its efficacy claims, including protection against blue light exposure and general nootropic benefits, extend beyond what the referenced ingredient research directly measured.
