Kyowa Hakko USA (New York City) spoke about its Pantesin ingredient, an active form of vitamin B5 that helps the body metabolize fatty acids and triglycerides, helping to keep LDL cholesterol down, increase HDL cholesterol, and decrease triglycerides. Karen Todd, RD, CSCS, HFS, the company’s director of marketing, spoke about Pantesin’s latest clinical trial, which in November found the ingredient, at 600 mg, to lower LDL cholesterol in individuals with low-to-moderate cholesterol. Todd said this study was significant because it studied a lower dose and those with low-to-moderate cholesterol compared to previous Pantesin studies on higher doses and high-risk groups.
