Superesse, an enriched yeast ingredient with S-adenosylmethionine (SAM-e) from Gnosis SpA (Desio, Italy), can now carry a joint-health claim in Japan. The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) has granted Superesse the health claim of “improvement for the joint wrongness,” based in part on the strength of its research profile for reducing knee discomfort, according to Gnosis.
“For regulatory purposes, nutraceuticals in Japan are heavily regulated, so achieving a health claim in Japan is extremely hard,” said Paulo Malesani, commercial director of Gnosis Group. “But that confirms that Superesse’s outstanding nutritional value has been recognized for the improvement of joint wrongness.”
