Recent study finds skin health benefits from micellar astaxanthin formulation, says Aquanova

A recent study showed significant improvements in skin quality with Aquanova’s NovaSol Astaxanthin supplement product.

Phyto-technology company, Aquanova NA Corp. (Aquanova), recently announced the results of a study assessing the impacts of its NovaSol Astaxanthin formulation on skin health. According to the company’s press release, “Aquanova’s NovaSol technology creates a nature-like micelle structure surrounding the active components, which in turn significantly increases the solubility and bioavailability of compounds like astaxanthin.”

The recent study, which has not been published, took place over the course of 84 days and consisted of 25 women that were between the ages of 30 to 50 years old. To gather research, objective and subjective skin assessments were conducted at baseline, day 28, day 56, and the final day of the study. Participants were given two NovaSol Astaxanthin capsules each day, one in the morning and the other during mealtimes in the evening.

To analyze the objective skin outcomes, researchers utilized a Corneometer, which looks into skin hydration, ColorFace and C-Cube, a tool used to monitor complexion, and AEVA-HE 3D Mapping, which analyzes skin texture. Researchers also collected subjective measures of improvements from participants.

According to the press release, on day 28, 84% of participants experienced a decrease in redness. When data was collected on day 56, 84% of women reported more uniform skin tone, enhanced whiteness, and skin luminosity benefits. On day 84, 92% of participants showed improvements in whiteness and skin luminosity. Regarding redness, 80% of participants saw a reduction in redness and improvement in skin texture. 84% of participants reported skin tone improvement.

When looking at subjective measures, three-quarters of participants reported more comfortable skin, 60% of study subjects mentioned an increase in skin softness, and 64% of participants reported increased skin hydration and saw an improvement in skin texture. The press release mentioned that study participants “expressed satisfaction with NovaSol Astaxanthin as a beauty supplement.”

Study researchers expressed that the NovaSol Astaxanthin product, highlighted several skin and beauty benefits. For example, improvements in whiteness, texture, luminosity, skin tone, increased hydration, smoothness, and a reduction in redness.

“Advanced dermatological tools confirmed the product’s effectiveness, and user feedback highlighted high satisfaction and perceived improvements,” researchers said in the press release. “Overall, NovaSol Astaxanthin proved to be a safe and effective beauty from-within-solution for age-related skin concerns.”

A recent pharmacokinetic study found that the NovaSol formulation had superior bioavailability compared to the native form of astaxanthin.
