PLT Health Solutions unveils third-party sustainability review of MegaNatural Grape Seed Extracts

In a recent press release, PLT Health Solutions, Inc. discussed their new white paper which went into detail on the sustainability practices involved with their MegaNatural Grape Seed Extracts.¹ The white paper called “MegaNatural Grape Seed Extracts: Sustainability Made in California, USA,” was conducted by Botanical Liaisons, LLC, for PLT Health Solutions.

Created by California Natural Color, a division of GALLO, MegaNatural Grape Seed Extracts are produced from unfermented red and white varietal wine grape seeds through proprietary processes. Inside the report, it details “sustainable practices related to land use, water use, energy use, and social responsibility in growing and harvesting these raw materials.”¹

“From a business perspective, being stewards of the environment is essential to PLT's future success,” said Sid Hulse, Vice President, Product Development for PLT Health Solutions.¹ “Plants are the raw materials of the ingredients we market, and without sustainable growing and harvesting practices, we risk not having access to these plants in the future. In addition, a joint survey by McKinsey and NielsenIQ in 2024 found that 60% of respondents would pay more for sustainable products.”

Some of the key offerings from California Natural Color and PLT Health Solutions are Activin, MegaNatural-BP, and MegaNatural Gold. Additionally, their grape seed extract ingredients hold a “Made in the USA” designation from being made in California.¹

The press release mentioned that details in the report include:¹

• 100% of GALLO's California vineyards are certified sustainable under the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance.
• GALLO reports recent reductions in energy consumption of 35%.
• The company has more than 21 acres of solar panels across its winery properties, with plans for continued expansion.
• Approximately 13.6 million kilowatt-hours of renewable electricity are generated annually including from solar, co-generation from biogas (process water treatment), and turbines across all GALLO sites.
• Non-chemical pest and weed controls have been adopted.
