PLT Health Solutions to Showcase Functional Beverage Ingredient Portfolio at IFT First 2026
Key Takeaways
- Consumer expectations now prioritize traceability, certifications, and enjoyable formats in addition to efficacy, favoring ingredients with perceptible onset suitable for functional RTDs.
- Development centers on beverage processing needs: tight particle-size/density control, water solubility or dispersibility, neutral taste/color, shelf stability, low inclusion rates, and clinically validated fast action.
PLT Health Solutions addresses sensory and processing challenges in functional beverages with its clinical ingredient portfolio, highlighting four health categories.
PLT Health Solutions, Inc. has announced its upcoming exhibition at the IFT First Conference in Chicago, Illinois, where the company will highlight its expanding portfolio of water-dispersible and water-soluble ingredients.1 Targeting functional beverages, the supplier markets more than a dozen solutions optimized for food and beverage matrices, and at at IFT First will focus on four primary health categories: energy, sports nutrition, weight management, and stress and mood management.
Why is the Company Focusing on Beverage-Friendly Formulations?
According to Steve Fink, Vice President of Marketing for PLT Health Solutions, shifting consumer expectations are driving the need for experiential ingredients in convenient delivery formats. Fink noted that while scientific efficacy remains the foundational requirement for product success, contemporary consumers place significant emphasis on clean sourcing, traceability, certifications, faster effects, and enjoyable delivery formats. “At IFT, we want the food and beverage industry to visit our booth, sample our ingredients and ‘feel the science,’” Fink explains. “Many of these ingredients are experiential and can be felt by consumers within minutes or hours, making them particularly well suited for beverage applications.”
To address these market demands, the company has undertaken an initiative to develop or modify its ingredient offerings to ensure compatibility with beverage processing and sensory requirements. Fink stated that plant-based and botanical ingredients present unique sensory and experiential challenges for beverage producers. Consequently, PLT's development work has focused on key technical attributes, including uniform particle size and density, water solubility or dispersibility, neutral taste and color, stability, low effective doses, and fast-acting, clinically validated performance.
Which Functional Prototype Beverages Will Be Sampled?
At the event, PLT will demonstrate these technical capabilities through several prototype functional beverages. These formulations include a coconut-based "Tropical Island" beverage containing Zembrin for calm focus and alert serenity, a "Mango Tango" beverage with Zynamite S for a non-stimulant lift in mental energy and mood, and a "Summer Berry" option featuring Rhodiolife Rhodiola rosea for adaptogenic stress relief and balance. Additional prototypes include a "Watermelon" beverage utilizing cellflo6 for endurance, recovery, blood flow, and energy, a MegaNatural-BP RTD “Isn’t Life Grape" beverage for cardiovascular support, and a protein-infused RTD beverage featuring Supresa Crave Control. The Supresa formulation is positioned as a complementary solution for brands addressing healthy eating behaviors and weight management trends alongside the GLP-1 category.
The company’s portfolio segments address specific functional targets:
- Energy: PLT offers both stimulant and non-stimulant options, including zumXR Extended Release Caffeine and Zynamite S, both designed to provide fast-acting physical and mental energy. The ingredient cellflo6 is currently utilized in commercial energy formulations, such as the 7-Select Fusion Energy drink.
- Sports Nutrition: For sports nutrition formulations, the company offers MegaNatural-BP grape seed extract and cellflo6 to support enhanced blood flow and endurance, alongside RipFACTOR Muscle Accelerator, which features clinical science that demonstrates improved muscle strength and endurance, it notes.
- Weight Management: The portfolio includes Slendacor Weight Management Complex and Supresa Crave Control. Multiple clinical studies on Slendacor have demonstrated fast-acting weight loss, non-stimulant calorie burning, and body shaping benefits, while Supresa is clinically shown to help individuals resist snacking urges, the company explains, adding that both Slendacor and MegaNatural-BP also have clinically demonstrated cardiometabolic benefits.
- Stress and Mood: To address cognitive and mood health, the company offers Rhodiolife Rhodiola rosea to address the adaptogen trend and Zembrin Sceletium tortuosum, noting that it is backed by clinical work demonstrating reduced stress and enhanced mood less than 2 hours from ingestion.
