A new antioxidant cosmetic ingredient is said to help with free radical scavenging and protection of the skin from external stresses. The ingredient was developed by IRB S.p.A. (Instituto di Ricerche Biotechnologiche; Altavilla Vicentina, Italy).
Based on Marrubium vulgare cultured stem cells, the ingredient contains forsythoside B, which aids in endogenous skin defense by activating the Nrf2 transcription factor. Forsythoside B is a phenylpropanoid, the natural substance that protects plants from environmental stresses. It is obtained by in vitro cultivation of plant cells.
