Frutarom’s (Haifa, Israel) Benolea olive leaf ingredient is the star of Life Extension’s new Olive Leaf Vascular Support supplement. According to Life Extension, Benolea has been clinically proven to help naturally modulate blood pressure levels already within the normal range.

The ingredient is standardized to 16% oleuropein, a polyphenolic iridoid glycoside found in olive leaf extract that the company says has been shown to support normal-range blood pressure. Research on Benolea also shows that it has antioxidant properties to protect blood vessels against cellular damage caused by free radicals. Life Extension adds that the highest concentrations of oleuropein are found in the olive leaf, which is a portion of the plant that is not readily available nor commonly consumed, and which can degrade during standard food processing. Thus, supplementation is beneficial.
