Natural Products Association (NPA; Washington, DC) is helping eliminate unscrupulous advertising with its Truth in Advertising campaign.
Unlawful advertising claims on dietary supplements are no thing of the past, but the Natural Products Association (NPA; Washington, DC) is trying to do its part to eliminate unscrupulous advertising with its Truth in Advertising campaign.
To safeguard consumers of dietary supplements and to protect the integrity of the natural products industry and safeguard consumers, the Truth in Advertising program identifies advertisements claiming the treatment or mitigation of disease. Offending companies are given educational resources and input from an NPA legal advisory council to turn around those claims.
This year alone, the program has investigated 40 cases of problematic advertising.
In the last 12 months, the program delivered over 70 warning letters and worked on 100 dietary supplement advertising cases. A reported 65% of cases resulted in companies addressing their advertising issues with the assistance of NPA’s legal advisory council.
You can make a pledge for truthful advertising with NPA’s Truth in Advertising pledge.
