NNB Nutrition has announced that its L-ergothioneine ingredient called MitoPrime is now self-affirmed GRAS. This allows the ingredient to be used in select food products such as sports beverages, grain-based bars, nutritional bars, and instant powdered nutritional beverages.
According to NNB, MitoPrime contains a naturally occurring thiol-histidine betaine amino acid that supports cellular health, protecting mitochondrial health to promote longevity, support oxidative stress, immune health, and inflammation.
