The new ingredient is said to influence satiety hormones, which in turn sends messages to the brain to promote feelings of fullness.
A new fish protein ingredient said to help manage hunger and promote satiety will launch at the upcoming SupplySide West trade show in November. The ingredient comes from ingredients supplier Nutraceuticals International Group (Paramus, NJ), thanks to its new joint venture with France-based supplier Compagnie des Pêche Saint-Malo to develop health-promoting marine-based ingredients.
According to Nutraceuticals International Group, the new ingredient increases production of cholecystokinin(CCK) and glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1)-both hormones linked to appetite control-which in turn sends messages to the brain to promote feelings of satiety.
