In an August 12, 2025, press release1, Seraphina Therapeutics announced that Inc. had named the company the fifth fastest-growing private consumer product company in the US, ranking 117 on its list of 5000 American companies. The list recognizes independent, entrepreneurial businesses.

The health and wellness company develops fatty acid supplements, food fortifiers, and nutritional interventions and developed the C15:0 supplement, marketed at fatty15. As the press release explains, the fatty acid was discovered while Seraphina's co-CEO and co-founder Stephanie Venn-Watson, DVM, MPH, served as a veterinary epidemiologist for the U.S. Navy, working with aging dolphins. Her team discovered that C15:0 (pentadecanoic acid) was the strongest indicator of health in the aging dolphins, an outcome also found in humans.

"We are incredibly grateful to the Navy and the Navy's dolphins for helping us unlock a core evolutionary tool of longevity that truly supports long-term wellness and healthy aging at all stages of life," stated Dr. Venn-Watson, in the press release. "Our discovery of C15:0 as an essential nutrient is proof that there are still simple and wholly meaningful discoveries to be made that can improve the health of all."

The healthy aging supplement is intended to help strengthen cell membranes against breakdown related to aging2, as described in a 2024 study published in the journal Metabolites. Additionally, another 2024 study3, published in The Journal of Nutrition, found that C15:0 may have a beneficial impact on metabolic health, with participants demonstrating a 1.88 μg/mL greater mean increase in circulating C:15:0 than the placebo group after 12 weeks. A 2022 study4 found that C15:0 is metabolized into an endocannabinoid called pentadecanoylcarnitine (PDC), which demonstrated dose-dependent anti-inflammatory activities along cell systems associated with treating cardiovascular, immune, neoplastic, pulmonary, and skin diseases.

In March 2025, Nutritional Outlook sat down with Dr. Venn-Watson to discuss5 her book The Longevity Nutrient6, in which she discusses her initial research and the subsequent scientific studies over the past decade. The book also notes findings that demonstrate C:15 nutritional deficiencies resulting in Cellular Fragility Syndrome.

Seraphina Therapeutics was named Best of the Industry Ingredient Supplier7 in 2021 by Nutritional Outlook. The ingredient had also been regarded as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) for use in food and beverages8 in 2021.
