Frutarom USA (North Bergen, NJ) will be introducing its new immune health ingredient, EFLA956 Pelargonium Root Extract (PRE), at next week’s SupplySide East trade show in Secaucus, New Jersey.

Pelargonium root (Pelargonium sidoides) is intended to ease common cold symptoms through what the company says is a “triple-action profile,” with the ingredient serving as an antimicrobial, an antiviral, and a mediator of the body’s own immune-defense mechanisms. Severity and durations of several cold symptoms, including sore throat, stuffy nose, cough, and mucus build-up, may be improved with the ingredient.

The company says that its ingredient has demonstrated efficacy in several randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials.

EFLA956 PRE is standardized for Umckalin, a constituent unique to the ingredient. It is considered safe for children and adults suffering from common colds. It is available as a powder extract to be formulated into syrups, softgels, tablets, and other products.

Frutarom USA will be located at booth #1526.
