The acquisition brings the company’s total number of pterostilbene-related patents to eight.
ChromaDex Corp. (Irvine, CA) has obtained an eighth patent for its pTeroPure pterostilbene. The pterostilbene ingredient is a nature-identical form of this antioxidant found in blueberries. Chromadex now has worldwide pharmaceutical and cosmetic rights to use blueberry-sourced topical pterostilbene for prevention and/or treatment of skin diseases, damage, or injuries-including those relating to aging and exposure to the sun.
The patent marks the company’s second patent for pterostilbene and skin care. In September 2011, Chromadex came to terms with the University of California Irvine for exclusive rights to a different, joint patent.
