Cactus Botanics (Shanghai) has launched Isatis indigotica powder extract, an ingredient used in traditional Chinese medicine for immune health, especially for support against symptoms stemming from viral conditions. A flowering plant of the Brassicaceae family, the ingredient is also commonly called dyer’s woad, or woad.

Cactus Botanics points to a 2012 study published in the journal Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, titled “Antiviral Activity of Isatis indigotica extract and its derived indirubin against Japanese encephalitis virus,” which found indirubin exhibits multiple immunomodulatory and antiviral effects.
